Q:What is 3D-RING?
3D-RING consists of websites which have 3D related content like 3D art galleries, 3D resources like 3D models, textures, tutorials, etc. Unlike a simple list of links, 3D-RING will provide a guided tour of all the websites which are linked together on 3D-RING. A visitor using 3D Ring can visit the websites one by one in order or jump randomly on the ring using the 3D-RING Webconsole®.
Q:How does 3D-RING works?
Each member of 3D-RING shall display the 3D-RING logo on his/her website. Clicking on the logo activates the 3D-RING Webconsole®. The 3D-RING Webconsole® contains the links that send you to other sites on the Webring. Since the 3D-RING Webconsole® runs independently from the member sites, it ensures that visitors do not get "stuck" on the ring.
Q:How do I join 3D Ring?
3D Ring is open to all web pages containing 3D related content. To join 3D Ring, fill the form in the Webring main page. You will also need to be a member of the 3D-RING Community before you can join 3D-RING. If you are not a member yet, you may register yourself here.
After you have filled in the form your site will be placed in our "registered sites" queue. A piece of HTML code will also be given to you and at the same time, a copy of the code is emailed to you.
After placing the code on your website, you need to upload your page to your server. Now view the page with the code with your browser and click on the 3D-RING Webring logo. Our script will then capture the URL of the page. This will not work if you are viewing a copy of your website which resides on your harddisk so make sure you upload your page first.
When you click on the logo, the 3D-RING Webconsole® is activated. It will show that your site is not in the 3D-RING yet. Click on the site owner's link to continue with the the registration process.
You will need to enter your site name and login info again to verify that you are indeed the owner of the site. After being verified, you will need to enter some additional info about your site. Your site will then be placed into the 3D-RING Webring Queue. You should be able to see your site listed in the Webring Queue List.
Your site will then be verified manually to ensure that it is suitable to be included in 3D-RING. This process may take up to 2 weeks. If your site has been accepted into the ring, you will receive an email from us notifying you.
Q:Why haven't I received the e-mail containing the HTML code?
The most probable reason for this problem is that you have made an error while typing your e-mail address during the user registration process. Please edit your user profile and try again. Otherwise, just cut and paste the code from this page on your webpage and see the question above. Unlike the old webring, the HTML code for all site members are the same.
Q:How long does it take before I'm added to the ring?
If your site has already been placed into the Webring Queue List, it may take up to 2 weeks before it is accepted into the 3D-RING. The reason for the delay is that the verification process is done manually to ensure the quality of the websites that are members of the 3D-RING.
Q:I have received the mail containing the HTML code but due to some problem, I can't cut and paste the code from my e-mail program. What should I do?
Some of you may have set your e-mail program to display your mail in HTML format instead of the usual text format. If so, you will probably see the HTML code as a logo with the links instead of the code itself. If this happens, you can cut and paste the HTML code below:
<!-- Start 3D-RING code -->
<center><b>Member of 3D-Ring</b><br>
<a href="http://www.3d-ring.org/window.asp" target="_blank"><img
src="http://www.3d-ring.org/images/3dring.gif" width="100"
height="40" border="0"></a><br>
Click on button for<br>
3D-Ring WebConsole®</center>
<!-- End 3D-RING code -->
Is the 3D-RING part of Yahoo! Webrings?
The old 3D-RING is a part of Yahoo! Webrings (now, Webring.com). The new 3D-RING runs under a newly developed webring script built by us. The new 3D-RING has many advantages over the Yahoo! Webring like:
- The HTML fragment that members display on their site contains no site id number. All sites uses the same code but our webring engine determines the member site and displays the correct links.
- The new webring uses the new 3D-RING WebConsoleŽ that pops up whenever someone clicks on the webring code on the member pages. The WebConsoleŽ contains the familiar webring links (ie. previous, next, random) and automatically updates itself as you surf on our webring. This solves the problem of looking for the webring code as you move from site-to-site.
- New registration process that helps eliminate the problem of wrongly entered member site URLs which causes bad links and delays in member approval.
